The Christmas Anna Angel
About this book
Set in Hungary during World War II, this story features young Anna, who wants more than anything to have Christmas cakes for Christmas. Her parents warn her that the Army has taken all the white flour, and that there may not be Christmas cakes this Christmas. The story is filled with details depicting traditional Hungarian Christmas celebrations, such as a visit by St. Nicholas, St. Lucy's Day, and the arrival of the Bethlehem. The text is enhanced by colorful illustrations by Kate Seredy.
