The Adventures of Robin Hood

The Adventures of Robin Hood consists of two short novels, originally published posthumously as The Prince of Thieves (1872) and Robin Hood the Outlaw (1873). The first volume starts with Robin Hood's infancy, then launches into his teen years, with most of the story devoted to a series of madcap adventures taking place over the course of a single week. The second volume relates versions of many Robin Hood legends found in previous story collections. These include his efforts to secure a rich inheritance, to woo and marry Lady Marian, efforts for and against the English Crown, and, finally, his decline and death. Throughout, Dumas depicts Robin as a charming and likeable rogue, fearless in facing down the evils of the world with the help of Little John, Friar Tuck, Will Scarlett, and a host of other recognizable characters. The result is a comprehensive, romantic collection of Robin Hood tales, presented by one of the greatest authors of all time.
